I am very new to blogging. I often try to talk to my family and friends about it because it excites me to share my ideas this way. Despite my excitement, I often get the same reaction, "Why do you do this?"
To be honest, I don't have an easy answer. I enjoy being part of a bigger online community. I love reading what others have to say. I feel like in order to be a productive member of this community, I need to contribute. That often doesn't satisfy their need for understanding. As my boyfriend so tactfully put it, "I still think it's creepy."
I can understand that viewpoint. It is different to put your life and ideas out there for anyone to see. Isn't that part of the point of web2.0? Transparency and collaboration are key. While I am not comfortable with 100% transparency for myself, I understand you have to give something to get something back.
With all this in mind, I want to pose the same question to you. What value do you see in blogging? If you have a blog, what is it about? Please let me know in comments! Feel free to leave a twitter name. Just a reminder, you can find me @kfred85 :)
